Meet The Owner/Builder
Born & raised in Southern Maryland, Kevin McElhaney, grew up around the construction industry. Kevin’s first taste of the construction world involved cleaning up job sites after school and on the weekends. From there, he was employed with a commercial contractor that allowed him to work in the field learning various trades such as site work, asphalt/concrete, HVAC, and carpentry. Kevin quickly transitioned from laborer to carpenter to a superintendent. Kevin pursued his studies in Construction Management and CAD at the College of Southern Maryland and continued on to University of Maryland University College in pursuit of a BS in Business Management.
Kevin went on to start a career in Commercial Facilities Management but quickly decided to pursue his passion in construction which led to the founding of Shady Lane Construction. Kevin truly understands how the various trades and skill sets work together to bring your one of a kind ideas and designs to life.
During his free time, Kevin enjoys hunting, farming, and spending time with his wife and two boys on their farm.
Meet the Owner
Kassie was born & raised in Southern Maryland into the construction industry. Kassie’s family owned and operated a multi-million-dollar General Contracting business, Blazer Enterprises. As a child, Kassie spent many days on the job site with her dad and by the time she reached high school, she was working in the office learning all she could about operating a busy construction business. After high school, Kassie left the family business for several years to work for the Department of the Navy supporting multiple programs including The Next Generation Jammer & E/A-18 Growler. Even with her success with the DON, she felt the desire to go back to her roots, construction. In 2021, Kassie left the DON and joined her husband, Kevin, at SLC. Kassie oversees all financial & daily operations at Shady Lane as well as design aspects on projects.
Kassie’s education includes a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management & a bachelor’s in communication studies with a Minor in Business Administration.
During her free time, Kassie enjoys spending time on the family farm with Kevin & their two sons. She’s an avid equestrian and animal lover.
